When life gives Lemons

Published by applebottomchick at 3:04 am under Uncategorized Edit This

If you are 40+ years old and you think of your Grandparents and what they used to tell you about life I bet some of these things ring through your head. “Don’t take any wooden nickels”, “God helps those who help themselves”, or my personal favorite “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” I’m sure you can think of more and please feel free to add some to the comment section. I never know how I would react if life did actually give me lemons. That is until I inherited a lemon grove from life!
Life had been pretty “normal” I graduated from High school with goo grades. Went to college to become a Chef and landed a sweet job as a Chef at the Ritz Carlton. Met and married a pretty decent guy, had 2 awesome kids and then I turned 30. That is when life started chucking lemons in my direction! I will save some time for my next blogs to write specifically about everything that happened but for now I will just list them. I was driving to the store to get some things for my mom and was rear-ended by a drunk driver! My legs were almost crushed and she didn’t have good insurance. 2 months later I went to work one day to do a catering job and tripped on this ladies rocks that were in a crazy place on her walkway. Cracked my head open slipped a disc and messed my knee up again. Got a blood clot, couldn’t work, got depressed, my husband couldn’t deal with it and he left me. That’s just the first 2 years.
In 2000 I got another blood clot that went to my lung and almost killed me. Rear-ended again in 2002 2003 and in 2004! (yes thats 3 times someone hit me and all of them were bad! Then my leg injury wouldn’t heal so they had to put me in a nursing home for 6 months so they could do a skin graft. Yeah a 37 year old in a nursing home where people go to pretty much pass away. Not a good scene!
THEN December 2005 I finally get out of there and find out that the nice friends I had let borrow my R.V. had stolen it and sold it to someone and couldn’t be found… So there I was homeless, not totally healed and all of my stuff was gone. I started to think that someone in my pasted put a curse on me for my 30’s! There were times I felt like I was being “PUNKED” by God!! Like He was gonna jump out at any second and say “hahaha! this was all a joke, none of it was real, you’re fine” well, that didn’t happen. In fact in in March 2006 I was…are you ready for this??? REAR-ENDED again!!! Stopped dead at a stop light in a little Nissan Hit by a GMC work truck messed up my self again! Got a rental and that Friday I was REAR-ENDED again!!! In August I was singing one night at karaoke and tripped over this tip jar some stupid person set on the floor fell down the stairs and hit my face on a barstool! ( I have pics if you want to see them) Then I was REAR-ENDED AGAIN in September!
You are probably saying “there is NOWAY this could have happened to one person.” I’m dead serious!

I am thankful to say that there have been NO ACCIDENTS or LEMONS since 2007!!

There is a point I want to make here. That through all of this I did remember how to make Lemonade. I did a lot of soul searching, a lot of praying, seeking God and He did give me the peace that passes understanding. I guess I was a modern day JOB from the Bible. With everything He went through He never cursed God. I didn’t either. I learned how to be more patient and kind and I could finally see how other people felt and could talk to them about the things they were going through. My friend, you can make it. Keep thinking positive, find someone to talk to who knows what its like o they can help you through it. Make lemonade add some strawberries to it and sell it at the corner with some chocolate chip cookies just to prove to life and the world that you can MAKE IT:)
Keep Smiling

Wow. I really enjoyed your blog. Life does give us lemons but thanks be to God for the sense to make lemonade. God bless.
